Marlon Höfer - most recently a goalkeeper coach in the U14 team at 1. FC Union Berlin's youth academy - has passed away far too early at the age of 28.

Marlon was a husband and loving father of two children. The enthusiastic Unioner was in the stadium whenever possible. As a teacher of sports and Italian, his life was most recently centred in Köpenick. His enthusiasm for football, both as a coach and a goalkeeper was infectious. The young footballers in the Union youth team knew him as friendly, but also demanding.

The sincere condolences and support of 1. FC Union Berlin go out to his surviving relatives, friends and companions. Marlon's family are now facing great emotional and financial burdens, and the Union foundation are asking for donations to support his wife and children.
